As NASA's own manned ventures into space wind down, companies like SpaceX will carry the torch for the shuttered space shuttle program. SpaceX just announced a new 22-story tall spacecraft called the Falcon Heavy, and the company's Dragon space capsule is already contracted with NASA to transport astronauts and cargo alike to the International Space Station.
